SEO Training Helping Small Businesses Understand SEO
SEO training is becoming more important for you as a small business owner due to the fact that search engine optimization(SEO) is becoming more important as a means for generating leads and sales for your business.
Unfortunately there is a lot of jargon, mis-information, and downright lies circulating on the internet about SEO. You may have been in receipt of a telephone call from an SEO company guaranteeing you first place on page one of Google’s search results for a keyword that no-one would use to find you!
You may also be receiving many such sales calls promising you the earth and telling you how complicated this whole thing is and why you need to pay extortionate fees to get such a company to help you.
Fortunately there is no mystery to SEO and in fact the basics are quite simple once you understand them. The biggest problem with SEO can be the time it takes to do it properly, that’s another story I will cover in the future.
For now, my next series of blog posts are designed to give you some fundamental SEO training to a level whereby you can at least understand search engine optimisation, and begin to either do it yourself on your own website, or at least know enough to avoid having the wool pulled over your eyes by a less scrupulous SEO company.
My SEO training will cover the following topics at a basic level:
- What’s in it for you? – why you should get to know SEO and howit can help you to grow your business
- Search engines: some nuts and bolts – a basic understanding of how search engines work, how they look at your website, and what happens next
- Getting your SEO plan right – how to create your SEO plan before you start, or before you hire an SEO company
- Keywords are king (or are they?) – many SEO companies and experts will tell you keyword research is key to SEO success. I beg to differ and I will tell you why and how my approach affects your SEO plan
- Making the search engines love your site – the basic things you can do to make your website appear higher in the search results
- Create content that converts – the heart to my SEO approach and why it should be yours too
- Building back links – these are links to your website from other sites. I will explain why these are important and how to start getting them
- How to track your SEO success – and why you should.
I don’t intend to turn you into an SEO expert overnight with this series of posts. My idea here is to help you understand the fundamentals so that you won’t be conned, or can start to do this yourself.
Look out for my first SEO training blog post later this week.
